GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is a powerful tool for Geologists. It can show geologic attributes overlain on aerial photos, faults, wellbore locations, hydrology, and other critical information. Learning to use GIS will allow you to customize your maps, enabling you to track trends in phenomena, processes and features as well as the interaction of humans and their environment.

The Institute for Mapping Technology offers a one-day workshop in GIS map making utilizing free open-source software. Learn to create and customize your own maps in a course geared toward adult learning and continuing education.

Our classes will teach you to build professional maps that you can share with colleagues, use in presentations, and proudly display in business or academic settings.

This course is 6 hours of Continuing Education Credit.

Please see our section on Upcoming Workshops for more information about dates, locations, and how to sign up for a workshop.
